Our Story

Two years ago I (Grant) stumbled into my first Ratio Christi meeting. The topic for that night was the Kalam argument for God's existence. Also known as the Cosmological argument. That first night opened my eyes to how much I did not know. Since that night I have given of my time and my resources to strengthening the ministry that has grown and equipped me to defend the truth's of Christianity. I will continue to equip high school and college students with the tools necessary to defend their faith intellectually. The University of North Carolina Wilmington Chapter of Ratio Christi has grown from 10 students to 50 consistent members (ranging from high-schoolers to working adults). It will only continue to grow.

As a sophomore in college, I (Lexi) felt strongly convicted that I should be pouring into other women as well as find women to disciple me. This led to the creation of Intentional, a women's Bible study that has followed me through three apartments as I have transitioned through and out of college. This study, that began with 4 people, is now a group of anywhere from 12-24 women who find themselves with a cup of tea and a seat in my living room to discuss topics ranging from singleness to universalism. Each woman is also encouraged to plug in to a smaller accountability group with other ladies in the study.

Both Lexi and I became student leaders for Ratio Christi as seniors and a newly-weds. We were the President and VP/first-lady. Ratio Christi was the focal point for many controversial topics on campus, including: a debate between Christianity and Atheism, a guest speaker and documentary on the historical and archaeological evidence of the Exodus, a talk on the radical nature of the Islamic faith, and partnering with a traveling apologist doing evangelism in the campus amphitheater.

We were also able to introduce two separate weekly Bible studies through Ratio and Intentional as well as host the first ever Ratio Retreat weekend with 24 students from Ratio and Intentional.

Grant and I were sold out on Ratio ministry and began to talk about becoming support raising staff with the ministry down the road.

On May 24th, 2017 Grant and I both woke up as full-time missionaries. This was not our original plan, but

Higher are His thoughts and ways.

We knew EVENTUALLY, we would transition into full-time ministry with Ratio Christi/Intentional Women's Study, but in our finite wisdom and planning, we figured we would have a few years of work and seminary under our belts first.

Two days after graduating from UNCW, Grant began classes at Southern Evangelical Seminary pursuing a Masters of Divinity in Apologetics. I, on the other hand, continued the job search and was hired full-time a week after graduation. We both prayed for ministry direction as it became clear Grant would start support raising while in school. In order to be a chapter director, support was necessary and encouraged by his Ratio Christi fellowship advisor and we strongly agreed.

This was all swell until prayers for my own ministry goals were answered. Two weeks after beginning my job, I was let go (for financial reasons that the company had not foreseen). It was a confusing day, to say the least. But, it was the answer I had been praying for and I now felt completely sure I was supposed to be a missionary.

So here we are. We are building the framework and praying fervently for the Spirit's leading as we pursue ministry at the colleges and high schools of Wilmington North Carolina.

Will you join us in reaching student's hearts and minds?
